Tony Brian Durham

Tony Durham, age 54, passed away on Monday August 19, 2024, at his home in Baxley. Born on September 17, 1969, in West Palm Beach, Florida to Reuben Durham Sr. and Patricia Ann Marcho Durham.  He moved from Florida as a young boy to Rogers, Arkansas and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma for his last 2 years of high school.  He made Georgia his home 20 years ago.

A retired first sergeant after proudly serving 21 years in the U.S. Army, Tony exemplified commitment and bravery. Upon his retirement, he continued to serve his community as a K9 handler for the Hinesville Police Department. His unwavering passion for working with dogs led him to train K9s for K9 Battle Buddies, an organization dedicated to connecting these loyal animals with veterans and first responders who needed them. His dedication extended to participating with Wounded Warriors, demonstrating his deep-rooted desire to support those who have served.

Tony's love for animals was only matched by his love for his family. He was often found rescuing dogs and providing them with loving homes, reflecting his compassionate spirit and the gentle nature that endeared him to everyone. His hobbies, which included fishing and hunting, brought him joy and relaxation, fostering connections with family and friends during countless adventures in the great outdoors.

Tony leaves behind his loving wife, Amanda Durham; his two children, Devin McKenzie (Laura) Durham and Jake Alexander (Ashlyn) Durham; stepchildren, Hailey DeFlitch and Brandon DeFlitch; brother, James Turner; grandchildren, Alannah Grace Connell, Laighton Denver Alexander Durham, Rowynn Grace Durham, Kinzley Faith Durham, and Liam Mitchell Durham; mother of his children, Patricia Durham; uncle Warren; aunt Deb; niece Brook; cousins, Dallas and Autumn; God son, Noah Martin.

Tony now joins his beloved parents and his brothers, Reuben Jr. and Donnie Durham, who have gone before him. 

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00am on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Glennville Funeral Home with the funeral services to begin at noon with the Rev. Reece Mincey officiating.  Interment will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Tyson Manning, Eli Manning, Anthony Martin, Joel Hughes, Londi Farrow and John Chandler

Memorials may be given to K9 Battle Buddies, 1534 Airport Road, Hinesville, GA 31316.

Glennville Funeral Home has the honor to serve the Durham family.
