Ulma Lee Dasher Anderson, 83, of Glennville, passed away Saturday, June 29 in
Glennville following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was preceded in
death by her husband of 59 years, Edwin Anderson, her parents, Dan and Gladys
Dasher, her son-in-law, Mickey McCrary and sister in law, Patsy Dasher.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by four children, Diane McCrary of Jesup, Danny
Anderson of Rincon, Patty Kicklighter of Glennville, and Lori (Jerry) McDaniel,
also of Jesup. Surviving are her six siblings and their spouses, Julian
(Louise) Dasher, Eugene (Barbara) Dasher, Charles (Mary Kate) Dasher, Eddy
(Margie) Dasher, Linda (Joe) Brannen, Wayne (Julie) Dasher, all of Glennville.
Mrs. Anderson is also survived by six grandchildren and sixteen
great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Wynell Mallard of Jesup, and Lanola
Mankin of Brunswick and one brother-in-law, Maurice Groover of Gum Branch. She
is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Anderson was a graduate of Glennville High School and Draughn's Business
College. She was a retired civil service employee of Ft. Stewart, former owner
of The Floral Shop, Sears Catalog Store, The Town House and The Dock restaurants
in Glennville. She served as Executive Director of the Tattnall County
Development Authority.
Mrs. Anderson was a former Director of the Board of Southeastern Technical
College and was a member of the Georgia Board of Technical Education . She was
instrumental in the placement of the Southeastern Tech satellite facility in
Glennville. She was Chairperson for the Adult Literacy Council. She was the
recipient of the Georgia Lamplight Award for her efforts on behalf of Adult
Education.
She was a member and former officer of the Glennville Garden Club. She
spearheaded a community initiative to beautify the grounds of Glenvue Nursing
Home by seeking donations for the purchase of roses that she assisted in
planting at the nursing home.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.
She was an avid gardener and in her later years took great pride in always
having flowers blooming in her yard to share with her family, friends, and
neighbors. She loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She never met a
stranger and was a great people person.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9, Monday evening at the Bradley B. Anderson
Funeral Home in Glennville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at
the Glennville First Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest in the family
plot in the Glennville City Cemetery.
