Vickie Lynn (Clark) Nowak

September 16, 1951 — August 10, 2014

SAVANNAH, GA

Vickie Lynn Nowak, 62, of Savannah, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014 into the waiting arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.  She died from head and neck cancer after battling cancer for the last 10 years in addition to fighting severe rheumatoid arthritis for over 34 years.  Her life was filled with constant pain and suffering, yet her sweet disposition and kind spirit were an inspiration to many who knew her.  She was able to persevere and bear her cross because of her deep Christian faith and love for others.  She will truly be missed by many.

Vickie and her husband moved to Savannah, Georgia in November 2012, from Pensacola, Florida where they lived since 1985.  Vickie was born in Flora, Illinois and was preceded in death by her parents, Rollie Earl Clark and Marjorie Josephine Lindsey.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Dale Clark.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of over 41 years, James A. Nowak; her loving daughter, Amy Elizabeth Gartside of Savannah, Georgia; her cherished granddaughter, Skylin James Gartside of Savannah, Georgia and her step brother, Gerry W. Slover of Delaware, Ohio.

There will be a memorial mass followed by a luncheon to celebrate Vickie’s life, both to be held at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Wilmington Island, Savannah, Georgia.  There will also be a memorial mass to be held in Pensacola, Florida.  The dates and times will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
