Virginia "Jenny" Thrift, age 89,passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born on March 12, 1936 in Strasburg, PA and had lived in Glennville most of her life.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Jenny's early years were devoted to serving her country, and she transitioned seamlessly to a career with Civil Service at Fort Stewart, where she retired after many years of dedicated work.
Jenny was a steadfast member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she never missed an event and found joy in participating in the Ladies Prayer group. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her values and actions. She was known for her generous spirit, always ready to cook for those in need, whether friends or strangers alike. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, making her a pillar of support in times of hardship. Aside from her unwavering love for Jesus, her greatest love and devotion was to her family, especially her grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and family. A selfless mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
In addition to her devotion to family and faith, Jenny had a love for shopping and was known for her patriotic spirit, often engaging in discussions about politics. Her vibrant personality and interests made her a lively conversationalist and an integral part of her social circle.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris Thrift; and her siblings, Bill Zeek, Larry Zeek, Charlie Zeek, and Johnnie Zeek.
She is survived by her loving daughters and sons in law, Kim and Alan Knight of Glennville and Pam and Tim Seyden of Tybee Island; her sisters, Trudy Ritcher of Texas, Mary Young of York, PA, and Rosie Essick of Maryland; grandchildren, Taylor Knight, Peyton Knight, Hunter Seyden, Brock Seyden, and Brady Seyden; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00am on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Glennville Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Knight and the Reverend Stuart Bland officiating. Interment will be in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Peyton Knight, Hunter Seyden, Brock Seyden, Brady Seyden, Lambert Lightsey, and Bo Boram.
Memorials may be given to Gideon's International.
