Savannah
Walter Cambridge “Bud” Murray, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Bud was born November 6, 1946 in Savannah, GA and lived most of his life here. He attended Savannah High School and graduated from Savannah Christian. Bud was a master carpenter and built beautiful furniture that his family treasures. Bud enjoyed being out in a boat on the river with his family or target shooting. He loved his dogs and watching SEC college football--especially his Georgia Bulldogs “Go Dawgs!” and occasionally Alabama. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and a former member of the Saint Andrew’s Society. His booming laugh and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Bud is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jami Murray and his two daughters Dr. Sonya Turkman (Burak) and Emma Thompson (Jason). He also has 2 grandchildren, Anastasya, Evan, and is expecting Anna Mae to join us soon. Bud is also survived by his two sisters Dr. Jane Agee of Saratoga Springs, NY and Jennifer Pulliam of Flowery Branch , GA, and his brother Dr. Stuart Murray of Marshall, NC. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr, and Mrs. Walter Cambridge Murray Sr. (Mae) and is survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank Help at Home for the wonderful care that he was provided and a special thank you to Carolyn McDonald for her kind and loving care. Bud received excellent care from Hospice Savannah, especially from his nurse, Vanessa Morris.
Memorial services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 2pm. A reception will follow in the Green Meldrim House. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Stuart Murray, Jason Thompson, Dr. Burak Turkman, Richard Allen, Rick Allen, David Allen, and Thoai Nguyen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Abilities Unlimited, P. O. Box 14041, Savannah, GA 31416 or the charity of your choice. Abilities Unlimited was dear to Bud's heart, he enjoyed his time there and the cherished friendships he made.
