at the Oxley Park Health and Rehab under the care of Affinis Hospice. The South Dakota native had lived in Atlanta, spending most of his life in Jacksonville before moving to Reidsville fifteen years ago. He served in the US Air Force and retired from the FAA in 1980. He loved to fish and work in his garden. Back in South Dakota he loved to pheasant hunt. Wayne was of the Lutheran Faith and was preceded in death by his children’s mother, Lois Helland and a step son, Waymen Stephens.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Helland of Reidsville; children, Steve Helland and Mike (Candy) Helland all of Jacksonville, and Susan Bruce of Baxley; stepchildren, Charles (JoAnne) Stephens of Fultondale, AL, Richard (Kathy) Stephens of Bonita Springs, FL, Wanda (Bob) Sandefur of Vidalia, David (Pat) Stephens of Panama City, FL, Lillian (Joe) Durrence of Reidsville, and Frances (Bobby) Parks of Hilliard, FL; granddaughters, Marley (Kevin) Amato and Erica Mays; five great grandsons; eighteen step grandchildren; and twenty five step great grandchildren; special caregiver, Lynda Kingery and Margie Sharpe.

with the funeral services to follow at
3:00pm
from the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Brother Charles Stephens officiating. Interment services will be conducted
