Wayne Woodfield

Wayne Maurice Woodfield, age 79, died on May 20, 2019 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.  The Arkansas native was born to very loving parents and grew up with 2 brothers in a happy home.  At the age of 17, he graduated from high school and set off to join the United States Navy.  Devoted to his country, Wayne served 10 years in the Navy attaining the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class.  After his years of service, he embarked on his next career; working for Safeway in the warehouse for 30 years.  Never one to sit idle, following his retirement, he decided to go back to work.  This time he served his community working for the San Jose School District for 12 years.  Finally, after 52 years of work, he retired full time.  While his children were younger, his favorite pastime was being with them and watching the Three Stooges and Hee-Haw; eating sardines and crackers.  Although time had a way of separating him from his children, later in his life they regained their closeness.  He was able to be with them for the last few years of his life; even as he battled health issues.  The most important thing to happen in his entire life was that he was saved from sin by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  It is now that he rejoices with the angels in Heaven reuniting with his family and waiting on the ones that still remain on Earth.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A graveside memorial service will be held on November 23rd, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Harden’s Chapel Church Cemetery.
