Wendell Gordon Waters

Reidsville

Wendell Gordon Waters, age 85, passed away November 29, 2017 at Ogeechee Area Hospice, Statesboro, Georgia.  The Tattnall County native was born February 19, 1932 in Glennville, GA to Ward and Mada Smith Waters.  He lived in Glennville and Reidsville during his childhood.  At the age of 19, he joined the US Air Force, and served during the Korean Conflict.  After his discharge in 1955, he moved to Locust Grove, GA and worked with the US Postal Service for 32 years.  After retirement, he and his wife, Dorothy, moved to High Falls Lake, GA and in 1999 he returned to Reidsville where he resided for many years until he moved to the Savannah area in 2013. Gardening and history were two of his many hobbies.  He would generously give beautiful flowers and plants to friends and family.  He also loved sharing stories of local and family history with others.  He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Ellenwood, GA. Mr. Waters was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy Stowe Waters; his second wife, Bobbie Hailey Waters; his sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Waters Lynn & Byron Lynn; his brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Nell Waters, and his stepdaughter, Antionette Greene Cason.

He is survived by stepsons,  Larry Greene (Araby), Jerome Lynn, and Jim Lynn (Kathleen); son-in-law, Edward Cason; grandson, Wess Cason (Natalie); granddaughter, Leslie Cason Craven; great-grandsons,  David Cason and Jonathan Cason; great-granddaughters, Jessica Greene, Beth Ann Craven Jenkins, Kimberly Craven Singletary, and Alyssa Cason Tobin; nephews, Steve Lynn (Miriam) and Mike Waters; nieces, Donna Mobley (Gary) and Charlotte Waters; great-nephew, Garrett Mobley; great-niece, Beth Lynn Alford (Will); special cousins, Ginger Douglass, Lynda Howard (Dewayne) and Cindy Cupp Layden(Steve).

A visitation for friends and family will begin at 10:00am, Saturday, January 20, 2018 with a memorial service to follow at 11:00am from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial in Reidsville, GA. Private burial will be at a later date.
