Wensley Hobby

Reidsville

Wensley Hobby, age 81, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia.  The Millen native was reared in Swainsboro moving to Reidsville in 1963.  He attended Duke University and graduated from The University of Georgia.  He received his Juris Doctorate from Cumberland Law School in Tennessee and opened his law office in Reidsville in 1963 where he still was practicing law at the time of his death.  He had served as the Tattnall County Attorney and served as the Tattnall County State Court Solicitor for eight years.  Mr. Wensley was a faithful member of the Reidsville Lions Club for the past fifty one years. He served as president of the organization several times.  On November 17, 2014, he was honored as a Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest award bestowed on any member.  Mr. Wensley was also a faithful member of the Reidsville Baptist Church.  He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Nell Hobby.

Mr. Wensley is survived by his wife, Ronella “Ronnie” Hobby of Reidsville;  his children, Wen (Dolores) Hobby of Richmond Hill, Pamela (Tony) Cabral of Savannah; step-children, Michael (Liz) Hopkins of Evans, Mell Hopkins and Dwayne (Janet) Hopkins all of Augusta, Kay (Mike) Daly of Martinez; sister, Helaine (Charles) McKenney of West Palm Beach, FL; brother, William (Linda) Hobby of Winter Park, FL; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday beginning at 6:00pm.  Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Wednesday, January 14, 2015, from the Reidsville Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Miller officiating.

Pallbearers will be the members of the Reidsville Lions Club.

Memorials may be given to the Georiga Lions Lighthouse for the Blind in memory of Wensley Hobby, 5582 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30341.
