Ludowici,
Mr. Wilborn "Larry" Flowers, age 79, passed away Monday, October 21, 2019 his residence surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Georgia Hospice Care. He was the last of 9 children, born in Ludowici on December 21, 1939 to Isham Malphus and Alma Vernell DeLoach Flowers. He had lived most of his life in Long County. Mr. Larry graduated from Ludowici High School in 1957 and was an Insurance Broker for many years. He loved to fish, hunt and race cars. Mr. Larry was a member of Poplar Head Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 32 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Lorraine Flowers of Ludowici; children, Marlene Flowers of Jesup, Michael Flowers of Ludowici, Jeanette (Rev. Tommy) Ray of Glennville, and Mark (Lisa) Flowers of Waynesboro; step children, Betty (Dean) Anderson, Theresa Jackson, Cecilia Flowers, and Earlene Jackson all of Reidsville; 15 grandchildren; numerous great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 24, 2019 with funeral services to follow at 11:00am from the Chapel of Glennville Funeral Home with the Reverends Stanley Todd and Gabe Gill officiating. Interment will follow in the Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky McGlashan, Alex Williams, Daniel Anderson, Hank Sikes, Clayton Walker, Allen Sharpe; honorary pallbearers will be Merrille Anderson, Danny Anderson, Mike Walker, Hugh Smiley, Rick Harris, Danny Surrency, Speedy DeLoach, Billy Smiley, Charlie Juiet.
