Savannah
The world lost a true gentleman on April 25, 2015 when William N. Dye, Jr., 81, of Savannah, GA passed away. Bill Dye is survived by his former wife Ida Dye, sons Mark Dye and Brad Pollins, daughters-in law Becky Pollins and Chelsea Dye, brother Preston Dye, sister Anne Thornberry, and his loving grandchildren: Brady Dye, Amelia Pollins, Ben Pollins, Curtis Dean, and Erika Dean. Bill was a loving father, grandfather, and a friend to all.
Bill was born in Augusta, Georgia on August 15, 1933 to William N. Dye, Sr. and Katie Dye. He was an Eagle Scout who loved the outdoors including camping, archery, hunting, and fishing. Bill earned his architecture degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and he was a dedicated fan and alumni of the Yellow Jackets. His love for the university led Bill to establish The William N. Dye, Jr. Scholarship Fund.
Bill Dye was an accomplished and esteemed architect who designed hundreds of beautiful homes on Hilton Head Island, SC, at The Landings in Savannah, GA, and the surrounding area. Bill has been a long time member of the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, and one of his proudest achievements was being the architect to design the expansion to the original sanctuary.
Bill Dye’s intelligence, sense of humor, love of the outdoors, and devotion to his family will be missed dearly. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Bill asked that contributions be made to The William N. Dye, Jr. Scholarship Fund by contacting the Georgia Tech Foundation, Inc. at (404)894-5072 or www.gtf.gatech.edu.
