William "Buddy" Hutto passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the age of 63. He was born on August 26, 1959, in Chicago, IL, to William Bryant and Ruth (Goughf) Hutto. Buddy's family moved to Missouri when he was a baby, but he considered Reidsville his true home over 51 years, fully embracing life as a Southern Gentleman. After his years at Reidsville High School, Buddy went into the workforce right away. He had a short stint with the Georgia Forestry Commission before his dream to be his own boss led him to start his own painting business. He found owning a public facing service business too restrictive, therefore he modified his business model to be that of a self-employed subcontractor. His services and talent were often requested and utilized by many companies. This allowed him to take on jobs when he wanted as well as have down time when he wanted. Even still, many in the area come to think of him as the "Bob Ross of drywall" because of his exceptional painting skills. He would continue to ply his trade up until a week before his death.
Buddy was a free-spirited, man’s man who never settled down to start a family. He found happiness in simply spending long hours on his porch, enjoying the beauty of the world around him while listening to his favorite music. He lived a laid-back lifestyle like Jimmy Buffet's "parrot heads,"; doing what he wanted, when he wanted! Many days, what he wanted to do was be the life of the party! Buddy would hold his own with those half his age. Even though Buddy never had children, he treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. He spent countless hours with them, teaching them important life lessons that couldn't be learned from a book. A man that was incredibly loyal, dependable, and protective; he will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elaine Hutto.
Left to cherish a lifetime of fond memories are his four "niece and neph-kids," Lisa (Ryan) Lewis of Claxton, Heather (Stephen Toth) Sugg of Ludowici, Michael (Tina Cook) Sugg of Reidsville, and Corey (Cristal) Sugg of Reidsville; ten great nieces and neph-kids, Tanner Bear Holcomb, Maliki Reese, Shannon Reese, Zander Reese, Aiden Toth, Alyssa Cook, Draven Cook, Amiyah Sugg, Nolan Sugg, and Trevor Sugg; his best friend for over 40 years, Ronald Arnold; countless other friends made along the way also survive.
