Reidsville,
William “Bill” Homer Carter, age 80, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Cobbtown on September 15, 1940 to Homer Newton and Cordeal McDaniel Carter. He toured the world in service to the Country as a 22 ½ year veteran of the United States Air Force. After retiring from the U.S.A.F. he went to work as a civilian contractor for 16 years with the 175th Ranger Regiment; being the first civilian to attain distinction as an Honorary Ranger. Mr. Bill loved to read his Bible and was proud to say his first love was Jesus. His favorite hobby was spending time with his grandchildren and is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe Carter and a sister, Jeanette Carter.
He is survived by his wife, Fran Carter of Reidsville; children, William Carter, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL, Wes (Kerri) Carter of Myaka, FL; Amanda (Mike) Bowman of Dunedin, FL, and Sherri (Mark) Scott of Lexington, KY; brother, Ronnie Carter of Cobbtown; sisters, Marilynn Lynn of Collins, Carolyn Holland of Garden City, Judy (Don) Farabaugh of Wilmington Island; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am on Friday, November 6, 2020 with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Reverend Greg Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
