Wilma Joyce Woodard

Wilma Joyce Woodard, 75, of Wilmington Island, formerly of Tybee Island and Brunswick died peacefully on October, 23, 2022 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.  She was born on August 8, 1947 in Savannah.  Wilma retired years ago from Nursing Home Care and previously from Glynn Brunswick Hospital.  She was a member of Chapel By the Sea Baptist Church on Tybee Island.  Wilma’s passion was spending time with family & friends and especially her granddaughters!!  Lunching with loved ones and, playing her BINGO was her favorite pastimes!!  Anyone driving around Wilmington could often see her scooting around on her prized scooter to her favorite places.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Beatrice Woodard; siblings, Royce Woodard, Garey Woodard and Margie Cochran.

She is survived by her son, Ellis Woodard (Jennifer) of Bluffton, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Bailey and Sophia of Savannah; siblings Randall Woodard (Linda) of Nashville TN, Woodie Williams of Tybee Island, Denise Woodard of Brunswick/Tybee Island; sisters-in law, Anita Woodard and Terry Woodard of Tybee Island; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, 2 god-daughters, 2 god-sons, and many special friends.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate and remember Wilma’s life on Saturday, November 5th at 11:00 am at Chapel By the Sea Baptist Church on Tybee and conducted by Bro. David C. Laughner.

Remembrances may be made to The Fresh Air Home on Tybee Island or the City of Pooler Senior Citizens Programs.
