Winifred B. Newman

Reidsville, GA

Winnifred Barbara Johnson Newman of Reidsville, GA, born July 10, 1930, fell asleep in death on Monday, November 4, 2019 after living a very full, long life.

She is preceded in death by her husband Roger and two daughters, Laurie Newman Horne and Michelle (Doug) Doyle.   She is survived by five children, Debbie Newman Burk, Mitchell (Jamie) Newman, David (Brenda) Newman, Luan (Floyd Mercer) Newman and Rod (Tanya) Newman. She had many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved dearly and a huge extended family.

She was 89 years old and still had the desire to improve her health and keep living.  The reason for her desire to live was the many friends and relatives that she kept in contact with through her letter writing.  She also had many quilting and sewing projects that she  was constantly working on for these loved ones.  She was called "Gramma Winnie" by many who knew her because she had a very caring interest in others.

Winnie had a very good sense of humor which carried her through many difficuilt times in life. she was widowed at the age of 51 and lost  two of her children in death.

She was a devout Jehovah's Witness and the most important thing in her life was her relationship with Jehovah God.  She dedicated her life to him in 1958 and served him faithfully til the end.  She loved to talk about the wonderful hope she had in the promised paradise earth.

She will be missed by so many and remembered fondly, which is a wonderful comfort to the family.  We hope that we can continue to be as caring and loving as she was.
