Reidsville, GA

Charley Wendell “Wendy” Phillips, Jr., age 63, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Optim Medical Center Tattnall.  The lifelong Reidsville native spent his entire life in Tattnall County, apart from a period of service to the United States, in the Navy.  Following his discharge, he once again returned home.  The country life suited Wendy well.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.  His pursuits of hunting were not limited to using weapons.  Many remember him fondly as one of the most skilled trappers this county has seen.  From nuisance foxes to otters and all manner of wildlife in between, he was known for his ability to always catch in the front left foot.  It was almost like he sensed the direction the animal would come from.  Life could not just be about hobbies, and for his professional career, he worked until his retirement in the early 2000’s, for the Georgia Department of Corrections.  As his children grew up and had kids of their own, Wendy relished his new role as a grandfather.  His new favorite activity was spoiling the grandkids and indulging their every whim.  Wendy was a person that was instantly “likeable” and always in a good mood.  Never putting himself first, his great personality, and just overall love for life; Wendy will be sorely missed by all who had the opportunity to meet him.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Charley Wendell Phillips, Sr. and Connie Mincey, and wife Renee Phillips.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his significant other, Terri Hutton of Reidsville; his children, Jasper (Andrea) Phillips of Reidsville, Brad Anderson of Reidsville, Jesse (Lindsey) Phillips of Vidalia, Jessica “Jessi-poo”(Randall) Kirkland of Glennville, and Sheldon “Buckshot” Phillips of Reidsville; one brother, Randall Phillips of Reidsville; 16 grandchildren, Alexis Phillips, Payton Phillips, Ashton Phillips, Jayla Phillips, Caleb Anderson, Christian Anderson, Chloe Anderson, Shelby Kirkland, Raylen Kirkland, Charlie Kirkland, Toni Phillips, Preston Phillips, Linny Phillips, Kylee Phillips, Kameron Phillips, and Kaisley Phillips; one great grandchild, Aubree Marie Harris; his step-father, Johnny Mincey of Reidsville, and countless friends made throughout the years.
